Treasure Hills

In Valley City, a quiet, progressive border town on the southernmost tip of Texas, lives Detective Carlos Alvarado, who has protected his hometown for the past six years. When his former boyfriend Henry Morelo returns home after getting news of his father’s suspicious death, Carlos comes face to face with his past mistakes. Having spent almost a decade apart without communication, their interactions are awkward—cordial at best. Carlos longs to mend the past, but a murderer is still at large and Carlos is hellbent on bringing him to justice.

As the case deepens and Carlos spends more time with Henry, Carlos finds it harder to tell Henry about the ever-changing truths in his father’s case. Not wanting to believe his discoveries, he keeps information from Henry, deepening their divide whilst risking his own career. Blindly driven by the impetus of intuition and the glimmer of second chances, can Carlos survive taking one risk too many?

Bringing an atmospheric feeling similar to Nic Pizzolatto’s Galveston, this thriller will transport readers to the border region of South Texas, instilling a newfound appreciation of its gritty landscape and culture of resilience.
