Saul Sandoval, the budding Rio Grande Valley author, was born and raised close to Harlingen in South Texas. As a child, his dreams were laden with filmmaking ambitions. In his high school years, Saul was led to the conviction that his future held a degree in Radio Television and Film.

The University of North Texas Denton presented Saul with his inaugural film studies opportunity. As he delved into the realm of film, a passion for screenwriting emerged and he zeroed in on writing mastery.

Enriching Family Values and Return to Rio Grande

However, as life unfolded, his father’s illness beckoned him back to the Rio Grande Valley, his homeland. Amidst caring for his family, Saul continued to pursue an English Bachelors degree, this time from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

Professional Path and LGBTQ Representation

Having discovered his love for writing, he opted for a Masters in Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University, all while supervising at a work-from-home call center. As a writer, Saul Sandoval recognized his responsibility and opportunity to shed light on the Rio Grande Valley’s border region, particularly striving for authentic LGBTQ representation. Saul ambitiously aimed to narrate stories that bridged generational gaps within families.

Current Endeavors and Personal Life

Now the Rio Grande Valley writer is fully engrossed in crafting his debut novel. Alongside this venture, he enjoys life with his partner Matt and their feline friend Manitas in Roma, Texas. As an LGBTQ author hailing from the Rio Grande Valley region, Saul Sandoval is pioneering a literary trail, true to his rich roots, and inviting the global community along his journey.
